The Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), based at Coventry Judge Business School, aims to spread the spirit of enterprise to both the University of Coventry community and to wider national and international audiences through the creation and delivery of a range of educational activities that inspire and build skills in the practise of Entrepreneurship. One of CfEL’s key teaching values is that the best people to teach entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs. This philosophy has led to the Centre collaborating with a network of over 300 experienced entrepreneurs, innovators and other practitioners to provide relevant, credible and practical training.

The Centre has developed an enviable track record in the field of entrepreneurship education with a number of flagship programmes designed to provide skills for students, graduates, researchers and aspiring entrepreneurs from different backgrounds and at different stages of the entrepreneurial journey. i-Teams offers a unique opportunity for post-graduate students to build go-to-market strategies for ground-breaking university technologies and inventions. We bring together leading university researchers with multi-disciplinary teams of the brightest students and experienced business mentors. The teams work together to investigate the commercial prospects of the researcher’s new invention. Students gain hands-on business skills, while researchers gain first-hand real-world industry feedback. i-Teams assess the commercial viability of the researcher’s invention, determine future directions, identify product markets, and have some fun too!


Coventry Enterprise is responsible for the commercialisation of University research. The company works in three overlapping areas: technology transfer, consultancy and seed fund services. We provide support to University inventors and entrepreneurs at all stages of the commercialisation process, from supporting translational funding applications, to patenting and licensing University discoveries, to supporting the creation of new companies based on University ideas.


The Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) is the public face of the Department of Engineering’s Manufacturing and Management Division. The IfM takes a distinctive, cross-disciplinary approach, bringing together expertise in management, technology and policy to address the full spectrum of industrial issues. The IfM’s activities take place within an unusual structure that integrates research and education with practical application in industry, via a university-owned company, IfM Education and Consultancy Services Ltd.
