CUEBiC & 3P Boot Camp
The CUE Business Creation Competition (CUEBiC) rewards high growth propositions that show a strong likelihood of receiving of receiving venture capital or business angel investment. Previous winners include Owlstone Nanotech, Splashpower and Light Blue Optics.
The 3P (People, Planet, Productivity) Business Creation Competition rewards propositions which focus on creating social or environmental benefits. These businesses may be either for profit or not for profit. Previous winners include Enval and Aptivate.

CUE will be holding the CUEBiC & 3P Boot Camp on Saturday 27 January 2007. This event will be a great opportunity for those interested in the business creation competition to learn how to write a winning executive summary complete with market research and competitor analysis. The CUEBiC & 3P Boot Camp will prepare you to submit a high quality entry for the first round of the CUEBiC & 3P business creation competitions.
Programme:
9.30am Arrival and Registration
10.00am Introduction to the CUEBiC & 3P business creation competitions and to the Boot Camp (Rahul Vohra, CUE President; Jo Mills, Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning Deputy Director)
This opening session will set the scene for the Boot Camp by providing an introduction to the competitions, the deadlines for entry and what's expected.
10.30am Evaluation of the Business Idea (Peter Hiscocks)
This session will introduce the MARKETS approach - a framework for evaluation of business ideas. It will highlight the key questions that teams need to ask about themselves and their ideas and help to identify what the first stages of research should be to prepare for writing the entry document and ultimately the business plan.
11.30am Coffee
12 noon Building Market Intelligence (Peter White, YTKO)
This session will introduce some key concepts in marketing and market research and will provide a practical toolbox on market research. It will highlight issues such as how to plan and carry out market research, how to divide up your time with respect to the tasks required and also how to make sense of the data.
1.00pm Lunch
2.00pm From Research to Strategy (Peter White, YTKO)
Building on the previous session, this one will provide you with some further tools to help you use the data you have collected to consider your competitive position and strengths and so to develop a clear strategy for your business through the early stages.
3.00pm Wrap-up and Networking over Coffee
A final chance to ask questions and to network with both speakers, the CUE and CfEL teams and others entering the competitions.
